T-U Schools 2017 CCRPI Scores Among Top in Our Area

For the third consecutive year, Thomaston-Upson School System CCRPI scores are among the top in the Griffin RESA district and have exceeded the state average, according to the College and Career Readiness Index report released on November 2, 2017, by the Georgia Department of Education. The Thomaston-Upson district average is 76.5, one and a half points higher than the state district average of 75.0, and up from last year’s score of 75.6.

Compared to the seven other school systems in the Griffin RESA, Thomaston-Upson continues to outperform the surrounding districts. Fayette County was the only school system in Griffin RESA scoring higher than Thomaston-Upson’s 76.5, with a score of 89.8. Griffin RESA school district scores in descending order are:

Fayette:                                  89.8
Thomaston-Upson:    76.5
Henry:                                     71.6
Lamar:                                    71.2
Pike:                                         70.9
Newton:                                  70.6 tie
Butts:                                       70.6 tie
Spalding:                                65.4

Thomaston-Upson‘s Middle and High School scores also topped state and Griffin RESA averages. T-U Middle School score was 79.1, which is 6.1 points above the state average of 73 and second best in the Griffin RESA region. T-U High School score was 81.2, which is 4.1 points above the state average of 77 and also second best in the Griffin RESA region. Individual school scores were slightly higher than the T-U district scores, due to the fact that the state eliminates any “Exceeding the Bar” (ETB) points earned by the schools when calculating district scores. Individual school scores are: ULHS: 81.7; ULMS: 80.6; ULES: 73.2.

Georgia schools implemented the CCRPI in 2012, replacing the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) measurement used under No Child Left Behind. CCRPI measures schools and districts on a comprehensive 100-point scale.

Governor's Office of Student Achievement

The Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) website provides school reports for all public elementary, middle, and high schools in Georgia. These reports include A-F letter grades based on school performance and other useful information about the school, such as performance on statewide assessments, the make-up of the school’s student body, the graduation rate, and additional academic information. Information is available in both English and Spanish. The most current report card available analyzes data from the 2016-2017 school year.
